About this scholarship

The HDFC Bank Parivartan Educational Crisis Scholarship Support (ECSS) Programme is a merit-cum-need scholarship run by HDFC Bank under its Parivartan CSR initiative. It supports students from Class 1 to postgraduate level whose education is at risk because of financial hardship or a family crisis. The programme is one of India's largest private scholarships, supporting over 6,500 scholars in 2025-26. Scholarship amounts scale with the level of study, from ₹15,000 per year for primary classes up to ₹75,000 per year for professional postgraduate courses. Applications are handled online through the programme portal.

Documents you need

  • Recent passport-size photograph
  • Previous year's marksheet (minimum 55% marks)
  • Government-issued ID proof
  • Admission proof for 2026-27 (fee receipt or admission letter)
  • Bank account details of the applicant
  • Family income proof (Gram Panchayat / SDM / DM certificate, or affidavit)
  • Crisis proof, if applying under the crisis category (death certificate, medical report, or employer letter)

How to apply

  1. Go to the Parivartan ECSS portal at parivartanecss.com and register with your email and mobile number.
  2. Pick the correct 2026-27 application form for your level — there are separate forms for school students, undergraduates, and postgraduates.
  3. Fill in your personal, academic, and family income details accurately.
  4. Upload all required documents, including crisis proof if applicable.
  5. Preview the form, submit it before 31 October 2026, and save the acknowledgement. There is no application fee.

Expert Tip

Get your income certificate from the SDM office or Gram Panchayat early — it is the document most applicants scramble for in the final week. If your family faced a genuine crisis in the last 3 years, attach the proof; crisis-category applicants get explicit preference.

Why applications get rejected

  • Waiting until the last week — the portal slows down near the 31 October deadline every year.
  • Uploading an income certificate older than the current financial year, or a self-declaration where an SDM/Panchayat certificate is required.
  • Picking the wrong form (school vs UG vs PG) — each level has a separate application.
  • Skipping the crisis documents while claiming crisis preference, which weakens the application.
